We would like to fly to Croatia. Which airport would be best to fly into?
The closest airport is located in Split (it is at 60km distance from Makarska). There is a bus shuttle from the airport to the main bus station in the city centre every ten to fifteen minutes that can be found just outside the terminal. Upon your arrival at the main bus station, you can easily change to the bus that will take you directly to Makarska (the lines are well signed, and you can find the departure times at the information counter nearby).

Is it possible to rent a car on site?
Yes, it is. Several car rental companies like SIXT, Hertz or Avis have their offices in Makarska. Also, you may rent a car directly at the airport in Split which makes picking up or dropping off your car and getting where you're going quick and easy.
As is well-known, it is often beneficial to compare prices prior to your arrival or to arrange car rentals beforehand on the internet.

We would like to visit the Dalmatian islands (e. g. Hvar or Brać). Are there any organised tours to the islands?
Yes, numerous companies offer one-day excursions by boat to several islands. The trips usually include a visit to picturesque little towns, lunch and drinks and time to visit some of the most beautiful beaches of the region.
If you plan, however, to visit the islands on your own’s initiative, you might want to take the ferry to Brać from Makarska. Many other islands can be reached by ferry from Split.

Where can we buy convenience goods?
There are many shops, supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and grocery stores in the immediate vicinity. Furthermore, a market is situated next to the church on the main square where you can find fresh fruit and vegetables as well as local specialties. Fresh fish is being sold every morning on the main promenade by the local fishermen.

Can we rent a boat?
Sure. Many boat rental services call attention to themselves on the main promenade. They offer pleasure craft of all kinds, Jet-Ski’s, canoes and more. Seek them out but make sure you compare the prices.
